Universal Design for Learning – March 2018 Online Learning Webinar

In March’s Online Learning Webinar, Learning Designer Krissy Wilson presented background information on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and five easy ways to incorporate UDL into an online course. Learning to Change: ICCHE-ACHE Conference Recap

On February 8, 2018, I attended and presented at this year’s ICCHE-ACHE Great Lakes Joint Conference. The conference theme was Learning to Change, and many of the presentations focused on the necessity and challenge of change, especially in professional/continuing education. I was also lucky enough to present on accessibility in online education and shared the story of our office’s continuing growth in this area. Instructor Bio Tips & Tricks

The instructor bio is such a simple, basic part of the course that it can be easy to overlook its importance. When so much time is taken up with assignment rubrics, video scripts, and discussion prompts, thinking of how to describe yourself to students can seem pretty minor. But it is worth thinking about. The instructor bio is often the first introduction that students will have to you–as an educator, as a subject matter expert, and as a person. So it’s key to make a good first impression with an instructor bio that students will want to read. Quality Matters

We celebrated the end of the year with a Festive Smorgasboard, featuring a hot chocolate bar, holiday bake-off, and Secret Santa gift exchange! The Distance Learning Department will be closed from December 22 through January 2.
