New Exemplar: Student-Led Discussions

By Christine Scherer

Check out the newest addition to our showcase of Exemplars: Student-led discussions. While assigning groups of students to teach a class session, give a presentation to their classmates, or lead a class discussion are all common activities in on-ground courses, translating those activities to an online setting can be a challenge. To see how Professor Diamond and Aaron Bannasch, one of our Instructional Technologists, made it work, check out the newest Exemplar!

Our Exemplars are a showcase of outstanding and inspirational course assets from the DL program. They’re a demonstration of some of the possibilities open to teachers and students in online courses, with the right technology and some creativity. Have you encountered any Northwestern digital course assets that really caught your attention? Want to know more about how to implement some of these in your course? Let us know in the comments or contact us at distanceeducation@northwestern.edu.

Also, expect the website to undergo a makeover in the near future! We’ve been hard at work on a redesign for the layout of the site, and that redesign should be launching soon. We’re really excited to show off the new look and get feedback from our visitors.
