Winter Quarter 2016 Begins Today!

Happy New Year and welcome back to all our faculty, students, and staff. Winter Quarter 2016 starts today, with over a hundred sections of online courses being offered across multiple SPS programs. Included among these programs are several courses in our revised Medical & Health Informatics (MHI) program, including MHI 414, Emerging Federal Regulation & Policy. In this cutting-edge class, Professor Susan Hahn-Reizner “provides a platform for students to track, analyze and apply potential impacts of new and evolving federal regulations and policy” on healthcare, including topics such as “Meaningful Use” criteria, federal & state coordination, and a nationwide health information


Welcome to Elizabeth Lemke & Krissy Wilson, Learning Designers!

The SPS Distance Learning team is very excited to welcome two more new team members: Elizabeth Lemke and Krissy Wilson. They will both be working as Learning Designers, helping faculty outline, design, and build online courses. Elizabeth comes to our team from Wiley Publishers, where she worked with Instructional Designers to build online course materials for a variety of clients. She has worked in higher education for several years in many roles, including teaching and designing courses. Krissy joins us after working as an Instructional Designer at DePaul University, a role in which she worked with faculty to design courses


Welcome to Dr. Reba-Anna Lee, Director of Online Program Development

The SPS Distance Learning team is very excited to welcome Dr. Reba-Anna Lee to the team as our new Director of Online Program Development! In this role, Reba-Anna will oversee our team of Learning Designers, lead our faculty training program, create systems to evaluate course quality, and guide online program development. Reba-Anna comes to us from Marist College in New York, where she was the Associate Director of Academic Technology and eLearning. At Marist, she worked with faculty to implement new technologies in their classrooms and oversaw the development of online courses, among many other responsibilities. She is a certified


New Faculty Training Begins Monday, November 16

Each quarter, the School of Professional Studies hosts a four-week, asynchronous training for faculty and teaching assistants who will be facilitating SPS online courses for the first time. Run through Canvas, the training follows the basic format of an SPS online course, which allows faculty and teaching assistants to experience a course from a student perspective while learning about technology, SPS policy and procedures, and best practices for facilitating an online course. Upon completion of the faculty training course, new faculty will be able to: Use Canvas and Adobe Connect to facilitate student engagement and learning in your course. Apply
